Chinese shares edged up by 0.35 percent at Wednesday's opening following overnight gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, opened at 2,068.09, up 7.28 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index advanced 0.46 percent, or 33.78 points, to open at 7,300.19 points.
Both indices continued to extend gains shortly after the opening.
US stocks rose Tuesday following a rebound in home sales. The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 141.53 points, or 1.78 percent, to 8,078.36, ending a three-day downward performance.
