The Ministry of Science and Technology on January 17 announced as listed below ten major scientific achievements made by Chinese scientists in 2000:
1. Nano copper's super property, to lead in nano carbon tube research.
2. New evidence of mass biotic extinction found, with ornithologic advance made.
3. Studying into Xia, Shang, Zhou dynastic division.
4. Contributed to Human Genome Project.
5. Palaeoanthropic finds at Yuanmou (Yunnan) and Bose.
6. Cells bred as tumor killer.
7. Gene sequencing of Hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA ) on men.
8. Finding new brain memory area to men.
9. Study on Eastern China's north-south terrestrial transect.
10. Launching of crust movement observation network in China.
