Malaysia's hope Lee Chong Wei ousted the former Singaporean dark horse Ronald Susilo?in Beijing?on Monday and advanced into the last 16 of badminton men's singles at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Lee beat Susilo at 21-13, 21-14. Previously, Lee had won twice and lost twice against Suisilo.
"At the beginning of the first game my hands and feet (were) very tight, but when it reached 11-9 I became relaxed. After that, I became more and more relaxed," the world No. 2 Lee said after the Olympic competition.
Susilo, who ranks No. 32, said Lee was good at defense, "I don't know why, but I could not kill (with smashes)."
Susilo won an unexpected victory against China's Lin Dan in the Athens Olympic Games, which brought himself an image of dark horse.
Lee Chong Wei, together with Lin Dan from China, is setting the trend of the badminton sport at the moment, said Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark, who was eliminated in the round of 32 on Monday morning, before the Olympic tournament began on Saturday.
