The design and construction of the Canada Pavilion reflects Canadian values of inclusivity, sustainability, and creativity.

The Canada Pavilion is shaped like a looped ribbon or the letter "C". The curved design creates a large public space that encourages interaction and a community feeling.

The three-story structure is among the largest pavilions at the Shanghai Expo, and aims to provide each visitor with a glimpse of life in a Canadian urban center.

An angled accessible ramp invites visitors beyond the interior courtyard into the pavilion. Entertainment in the courtyard and on video screens located along the waiting area encourages interaction among the visitors and echoes a lively urban gathering place.

A highlight of the interior is a "virtual waterfall" that changes its pictures when people touch it. The waterfall also shows the scenery of future cities in the imaginations of Canadian children.
